How to set up automatic drop-shipping for vendors in Volusion

In a previous article, we discussed the benefits of drop-shipping to ecommerce businesses and the third party application, Ecommhub, that automates this process. Volusion users do not have access to this application but a lot of the automation features found in Ecommhub are built into the Volusion platform itself. In this article, we are going to show Volusion users how to set up automatic drop-shipping for their products.
How to set up automatic drop-shipping in Volusion

Create a Vendor
- Login to the Admin Area

Navigate to Inventory > Vendors

Click Add
When adding a new drop-shipping vendor, the following information is required:

Vendor ID: Create a unique, numerical Identification Code for the new vendor.

Vendor Name: You can type the company’s name exactly, or use a similar name.

Active & Allows Drop-Shipping: Make sure these two functions are checked.

PO_TO_Vendor.asp: You can find this in the PO Template menu. Make sure this is selected.

Email: This function can be selected from the PO Send Via menu.

Vendor E-mail Address: Designate the email address the vendor invoices will be sent to.
When you have finished, click Save.

Creating Vendor Rules

Login to the Admin Area.

Navigate to Inventory > Products

Click on the product ID for the product you want to drop-ship.

Expand the Vendor Rules area.

Type in the Vendor ID.

Enter the product ID your vendor has given to the product.

Type in the minimum amount that can be drop-shipped and the vendor’s product price.
When you have finished, click Save. You will see this information displayed in the Vendor Rules section.

Navigate to Advanced Info > Stock, enter “0” in Stock Status section

Navigate to the Stock tab.

Uncheck Do Not Allow Back Orders (if it is checked).

Navigate to the Vendors tab.

Check the Auto Drop Ship box.
When you have finished, click Save.
TIP: Include your vendor’s shipping cost in the vendor’s price and double-check that the product shipping origin is your vendor’s location.
